MWR Personal Trainers

The MWR Personal Trainers are professionally certified and ready to help you meet your goals. In addition to their own professional certifications, all trainers are pre-evaluated to determine experience and are fully trained in CPR, First Aid, AED, and the Navy Fitness Certification Program. Call 727-2565 for more information or leave your name and number for a call back from one of our personal trainers. Please note that only MWR certified/contracted personal trainers are allowed to train customers in our facility.

Please Note: If you are instructing or training customers/personnel in your command at the MWR gym, you must show proof of the certifications (highlighted below) to MWR fitness personnel.  MWR will require copies for auditing purposes.  If you are a CFL, you must provide or show proof of the CFL course completion.  (Please see the Personal Trainer Policy in the Useful Downloads Section) If you have any questions, please see Frank Mateos or email frank.mateos@rotamwr.com

Fitness Center's Massage Program

Are you taking care of your body, mind and soul? Are you requiring some special treatment to relax? Does pain or restricted movement keep you from living the life you want? Sports injuries, household accidents, repetitive actions on the job, and tension from everyday stresses cause problems that can sometimes last the rest of a person's life.

Massage As Therapy

Massage is a gentle therapy that can relieve pain and, in combination with medical attention, heal certain conditions and help prevent their return.  Massage helps with stress, painful or tight muscles, delayed muscle soreness, pain or tingling in the arms or legs, minor injuries, prevention of new injuries, pain or restriction in the joints, posture, and fluid retention.

The MWR Fitness Center hires only certified massage therapists. A certified therapist is someone who has attended formal training through a massage school and has met required training hours. They may be certified in several types of massage (Swedish, Sports, Deep Tissue, Relaxation, Reflexology, Trigger Point and Pre-Natal Massage) and have working knowledge of anatomy and physiology. They are required to perform a pre-screening evaluation with the Fitness Director. We offer therapists from all over the US. Come try one today! By appointment only. Massage sessions are held in the massage room at the Fitness Center. Payment of cash, card or check must be made at time of scheduling or within 24 hours of appointment. Payment can be made at the Fitness Center front desk.

Fitness Center's Group Classes

The MWR Fitness Center offers a variety of group exercise classes. For details on qualifications to become an instructor send an email to fitness@rotamwr.com.

The fitness center always wants exercise participants to check form over dysfunction. See this important flexibility test that is part of a functional movement screen. It is ONLY a test and should not be done with excess weights. Click HERE for more information.
